Technology Integration In A Title I Elementary School: An Exploratory Case Study, Barbara Louise Radecki

The purpose of this study was to determine how technology was integrated into the curriculum of a Title I high achieving elementary school in a large school district in the Southwestern United States. Three research questions guided the study: How did teachers integrate technology and curriculum in a Title I, high achieving elementary school? How did that integration translate into the classrooms of this Title I, high achieving school? What existed in the school environment that promoted the integration of technology into the curriculum?

To meet the needs of rigorous educational programs, academic libraries must make a commitment to serve growing distance education (DE) populations. Students who participate in distance education are typically older, nontraditional students with unique characteristics who need special services provided by their university library in order to obtain an education equal to their on-campus counterparts. Creating a successful reference and instructional service for distance education students not only takes planning, collaboration, and assessment, but also requires knowing your audience, constantly experimenting with new technologies, expecting the unexpected, and being ready to problem-solve at a moment’s notice. The literature related to online learning programs for K-12 students dates to the mid-1990s and builds upon a century of research and practice from K-12 distance education. While K-12 online learning programs have evolved and grown over the past decade, the amount of published research on virtual schooling practice and policy is limited. The current literature includes practitioner reports and experimental and quasi-experimental studies, both published and unpublished. Classroom-based training by itself is becoming too costly and difficult to manage. Organizations that embrace a blended learning model of training increase employee learning by utilizing a combination of technology and face-to-face classroom facilitation. The purpose of this project was to develop a method of providing ongoing support and training of teachers as they acquired the skills necessary to incorporate classroom web pages into their instruction. The importance of providing effective teacher technology training was explored and the level of learner safisfaction in utilizing short, targeted video tutorials designed for new users of SchoolFusion web design software were studied.
