Culminating Projects in Higher Education Administration
This study examines the life skills practiced and acquired by student employees who were nominated for the Student Employee of the Year award at the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University between the 2001-2002 and 2007- 2008 academic years. A quantitative and qualitative analysis of the contents of the nomination forms submitted by both supervisors and students reveals that the students represented in the sample did practice and acquire a great number of life skills- such as time management, decision making, supervisory skills, and computer and technology skills-through their student employment positions. A recent national survey found women hold only 23% of higher education institution presidencies (American Council on Education, 2007). However, women now earn 58% of all bachelor’s degrees and 4% of all doctorates (U.S. Department of Education, 2005). These findings suggest something may be interfering with the pool of capable women moving through the pipeline to attain higher education administrative positions. Gender differences in career aspirations have been suggested as one potential reason for this disparity.

For universities, these interactions and collaborations can bring additional revenues through license fees or additional research funds, promote economic development in their community, test the practical application of their research, allow for the input of industry on the research, create internships and employment opportunities for students, and-in general-further the research, education, and outreach aspects of their mission. An Exploratory Case Study: The Saint Paul College Transfer Center, Gina R. Boeckermann

The purpose of this mixed-method study was to examine how the Saint Paul College Transfer Center is used by students of different genders, ages, and ethnic groups. Since its implementation in January 2006, the Saint Paul College Transfer Center has not been thoroughly evaluated. This study also explored the transfer experiences of students who accessed the Saint Paul College Transfer Center. The study included an eleven question survey administered to 122 Saint Paul College transfer students. In addition, seven one-on-one interviews provided personal stories and insights shared by students.
