Fermiiab is full of scientists and engineers who work together with the common purpose of understanding nature, meeting difficult challenges and wisely spending a very large amount of public money. As Director of the Laboratory I sleep like a baby - I wake up every two hours and cry.

The goals were for the participants to show significant gains in identifying the gifted, in developing positive attitudes and in planning and utilizing appropriate methods and materials to meet their particular needs. A local survey indicated that the majority of regular education teachers were not able to identify gifted students or to provide for their affective and intellectual needs. A creative inservice training program was developed to demonstrate effective gifted education strategies. Multi-media workshops presented information on identification, …

The writer initiated and implemented a program designed to increase the higher cognitive skill of analysis in fifth and sixth grade Academic Excellence students. In establishing a' new kind of educational institution which is heavily dependent on public funding, it is incumbent to describe the goals and the means as clearly as possible. We do this here in several steps: We define the general objectives, the specifications and finally, the general philosophy.
