O estudo abrange o período de 1950 a 1980 e refere-se ás atividades desenvolvidos por três organizações: a Fundação Brasileira para o Desenvolvimento do Ensino de Ciências (FUNBEC), o Instituto Brasileiro de Educação, Ciências e Cultura (IBECC), e o Projeto Nacional para a Melhoria de Ensino de Ciências (PREMEN).

O trabalho apresenta os resultados de um estudo que teve como objetivo identificar os livros didáticos de Ciências utilizadas no Colégio Pedro II, entre os anos de 1838 e 1900. Na investigação, vinte e quatro autores e vinte e seis livros didáticos foram identificados.
The article presents the results of a study whose objective was to identify science textbooks used in the College Pedro II between the years 1838 and 1900. In the investigation twenty-four authors and twenty-six textbooks were identified.

This quotation illustrates the equivocal praise which business instructors provide the textbooks that they adopt for their capstone policy courses. Ten representative strategy/policy textbooks were reviewed and almost all of them received at least one instructor's nomination as the best strategy textbook available, yet reviewers consistently identified deficiencies and their intent to change books. As one aspect of a study on faculty career development, relationships between work and life away from work were explored for 112 faculty members. The sample, from one department in the humanities and one in the natural sciences and from two professional schools, was stratified by academic rank and sex. The study employed in-depth interviews followed by questionnaires. Results of regression analyses indicated that both aspects of work and life outside of work were related to work satisfaction; likewise, work as well as nonwork conditions were associated with satisfaction in life away from work. This paper describes some experimental work undertaken by the authors with teachers in a number of Australian schools to provide criterion-referenced assessments of student achievement. In these investigations we work closely with individual teachers using assessment materials developed within each school. We analyze students' performances on these materials, provide teachers with computergenerated reports, and assist teachers to use these reports to monitor the progress of their students and to diagnose individual strengths and weaknesses.

A method for constructing a bank of items scored in two or more ordered response categories is described and illustrated. This method enables multistep problems, rating scale items, question 'clusters', and other items using partial credit scoring to be calibrated and incorporated into an item bank, and it provides a mechanism for computer adaptive testing with items of this type. Procedures are described for calibrating an initial set of items, for testing the fit of items to the underlying measurement model, and for linking new items to an existing item bank. This paper analyzes institutional procedures in the People's Republic of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong with respect to issues of offender and relative stigmatization, organizational rationality and educational quality.
