This is a report of an internship experience in central office administration. It is a study of the Forest Hills School District, Grand Rapids, Michigan, following a millage defeat, and depicts the central office administrators as they accept the challenges thrust upon them. It is an analysis of the roles and responsibilities inherent in the positions of the superintendency and assistant superintendencies of business, instruction and personnel as they emerged during a crisis period. The information is presented from the vantage point of the administrative intern who functioned as an additional staff member.

The purpose of this investigation was to develop a method for predicting success of students in a B.S. data processing program and data career success in data processing for those graduates.

Data were collected from Ferris State College records for high school rank, SCAT verbal and quantitative scores, all college GPA, data processing GPA, English GPA and sex. An instrument was developed to collect data from graduates' supervisors to measure career success. Fixed interval (FI), fixed time (FT), and fixed ratio (FR) schedules of reinforcement were implemented with two retarded subjects and the effects on operant responding and interim activities were evaluated. One subject responded under FI 1 min, multiple FI 1 min, and multiple FI 1 min extinction schedules. Three interim activities were observed to occur under each schedule. The second subject responded under FI 1 min, FI 3 min, FR 20, FR 25, FR 35, multimple FR 35, FT 1 min, and multiple FR 35 extinction schedules. A Diagnostic-Teaching Investigation Of The Feasibility Of Using The Hutchings' “Low-Stress" Algorithm For Addition Skill Development In Trainable Mentally Impaired Pupils, Joann Bankston Mckay

The feasibility of using the Hutchings' "Low-Stress" algorithm for the development of addition skills in trainable mentally impaired pupils was investigated in this exploratory diagnostic study. The four subjects were identified as trainable mentally impaired pupils (IQ 44-63), three females and one male, between eighteen and twenty years of age. Results indicate increased power with counting and numeral recognition. Results from "Low-Stress" training phases indicate an increasing trend in binary accuracy and rate. Diagnosis of error patterns resulted in adjustments in teaching strategies. Results support the feasibility of "Low-Stress" algorithm for addition skill development in trainable mentally impaired pupils with …

The purpose of this study was to determine which variables (alumni characteristics) may influence the giving pattern of alumni to their alma mater. With American colleges facing a continuing need for funds, a clear understanding of factors which may influence alumni giving is vital.

A questionnaire was mailed to all of the alumni of Los Angeles Baptist College. After receiving responses from 54% of the alumni contacted, the data were analyzed to determine whether certain alumni characteristics affected whether an alumnus was a donor or nondonor. The package contained worksheet activities on the use of the table of contents, index, and headings and sub-headings of a book. After the package was developed, its effectiveness on students' academic performance was assessed. The resistance to temptation paradigm and modeling literature was reviewed to evaluate imitation effectiveness as an instructional method. Varied interventions used in conjunction with modeling were: rehearsal of rule following behavior; consequences to the model; reinforced and nonreinforced interaction; alternative, attractive and available tasks; and rationales for temptation. The past experimental results of these interventions used with modeling have been diverse. All temptation research utilized the forbidden toy or movie procedures as the tempting situation, while most allowed the subjects to engage in toy play or a film editing task. The subject was a 2 and a half-year-old male who engaged in a high rate of aggressive behavior that appeared to be maintained by teacher reprimands and physical contact. An extinction procedure in which all aggressive behavior directed toward peers was ignored was used in conjunction with teacher attention directed to the victim. Teacher attention was also used to positively reinforce the subject for interaction with peers. These procedures reduced the subject's aggressive behavior to a much lower rate. The purpose of this study was to investigate relationships between alumni donor characteristics and self-esteem and altruism with the assumption that donor self-esteem and altruism are related to alumni giving behavior. Eight donor characteristics perceived to represent a cross-section of donor characteristics having a direct or indirect relationship to either self-esteem, altruism, or both, in regard to philanthropy, were selected for study. The focus of this study was the tenability of the underlying assumption of Model A, the norm-referenced model, of the Title I Evaluation and Reporting System (TIERS). Model A estimates the no-treatment expectation from normative data. The assumption made by the Model is that, in the absence of special treatment, student groups maintain a constant percentile position in relation to national norms.

The purpose of this investigation was to provide evidence for the proposition that when positive attitudes exist between the parties of the collective bargaining process labor peace exists.

Data were generated using the Walton and McKersie Attitude Structuring Model. The instrument used was a questionnaire prepared by Crandall (1976). Two-way ANOVA techniques were employed. Districts were designated by type of labor peace using criteria adopted from the Golden Studies of 1955. The sample population consisted of 30 school districts with 153 administrators, teachers, and board members responding to the instrument.

This study attempted to determine the feasibility of teaching trainable mentally impaired subjects Hutchings' low-stress addition algorithm. It was a non-experimental study of acquisition using diagnostic teaching techniques. Three trainable mentally impaired subjects participated in training. No subjects knew basic addition facts, so use of a number line was substituted. Training was divided into four steps: a) use of the DOOF for a single binary; b) notation; c) adding two binaries in one column; and d) adding binaries in two columns. This project proposed to develop, implement and validate an outlining preskills program utilizing a multiple-probe design (Horner & Baer 1978). The critical entry skills for any recording system (Carnine & Silbert, 1979) include: Determining the topic, main idea and supporting details of a paragraph. These skills and how to identify each in an outline were presented in the Outlining Preskills Program developed by the researcher. Various models have been used to describe the nature of the relation between reinforcement delay and relative response rate. Delay has been incorporated as one aspect of reinforcement within the matching law which states that the relative response rates in concurrent schedules will equal the relative immediacy of the reinforcement.
