The driver education program being operated in this state is not adequate in terms of meeting the course standards issued by the U. S. Department of Transportation. The purpose of this study is two- fold: (1) To present a basic course outline that will meet the federal standards, and (2) to assist school district superintendents in determining the essential scheduling and staff requirements to conduct a satisfactory driver education program.

The purpose of this study was to determine if there were significant differences in first grade students who had attended kindergarten and those who had had no prior formal school training.
The hypotheses in the study were that there is no significant difference in the areas of (1) achievement, (2) adjustment to school, (3) sociometric choices, (4) readiness for first grade, and (5) mental ability between first grade students selected for this study who have had kindergarten experience and those who have had no prior formal school training.

The purpose of this study was to examine five basic reading programs at the third grade level to identify instructional lessons presented in two categories of context clues and three types of structural clues. The two categories of contextual clues were word clues and typographical clues. The three types of structural clues were prefixes, suffixes, and inflectional endings. Identification of the variety of clues and frequency of clue lessons in each textbook series and the similarities and differences in presentation among series was also considered an important part of the purpose for this study.

This study used the II:PPS and the AVLSV to test seven hypotheses. These hypotheses asked if there was significant difference at the .05 level as measured by the "t" test between experienced teachers of special education and incoming prospective teachers of special education, of experienced teachers of special education and graduating prospective teachers of special education, and of experienced teachers of special education and the college normal samples as published by the test manual. Problem. This study was designed to evaluate the use of the informal reading inventory in a fifth grade classroom of 29 students in the Northeast Heights of Albuquerque. The emphasis of the study was placed on finding the instructional reading levels of the children. The informal reading inventory the Nelson Reading Test, and teacher grouping were used in an effort to determine the instructional reading levels of the children and then a comparison made of the three means of evaluation.

The informal reading inventory was explored in conjunction with: (1) the teacher assigned reading level, (2) the cloze procedure to evaluate comprehension, and (3) the rate of silent and oral reading. Sixty children in grades two through six were given the informal reading inventory to determine their independent, instructional, and frustration levels. The children were also given written cloze tests on the basis of their school assigned grade level to evaluate their independent, instructional, and frustration levels. Over the years, teachers and administrators alike have struggled with teaching orthography, the conventions and rules of spelling. In particular, teachers in Prince William County in Virginia have struggled with how to teach orthography in their junior high schools. In the past, various orthography techniques they’ve used have failed to meet the needs of their students.
