At a time of significant educational reform in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), teacher professional development (PD) plays an instrumental role in equipping teachers with the knowledge, teaching practice, skills and competencies to improve students’ learning outcomes. This study explores the impact of Tamkeen: Empowering Educators Programme, which was a large-scale teacher PD training initiative by the Abu Dhabi Education and Knowledge (ADEK) PD Division. The purpose of this study was to identify the psychological needs of parents of children with intellectual disabilities and to examine the impact of the child’s age and severity of disability on parents’ psychological needs in the United Arab Emirates. The study sample consisted of 690 parents of children with intellectual disabilities. The study was conducted during the academic year 2016-2017. However, very little is known about its nature and scope, and how its delivery may differ between school sectors. Sedentary Behaviour (SB) has been associated with deleterious health outcomes such as increased levels of overweight, obesity, and type 2 diabetes (Tremblay et al, 2010, Pate et al., 2008). Currently, there is a dearth of objective data on the amount of time Irish children spend sedentary and the subsequent effect on their health. The purpose of this study was to assess (i) levels of SB and markers of health among Irish primary school children, and (ii) the effectiveness of a health promotion intervention Project Spraoi on reducing SB and improving markers of health among Irish children.

The study identified and explored the mentoring experiences in the transition fromgraduate to Early Career Teacher (ECT) in selected Catholic primary and secondary schools in Western Australia. The research addressed a significant deficit, as presently the lack of a system-wide framework for the mentoring of ECTs, the cessation of the current ECT program and the limited training of mentors, has resulted in less than ideal mentoring experiences for ECTs.
