The Impact Of Test Format Familiarity On Reducing Test Anxiety, William P. Aamodt

Theses and Graduate Projects

High school students have a variety of concerns when it comes to school; one manifestation of these concerns is test anxiety. Test anxiety in the science classroom is of special concern due to the perceived difficulty of specific topics and the class as a whole, as well as the importance of passing the course. I looked at reducing test anxiety and improving test scores by reviewing chemistry concepts in the same format as the test questions. The results indicate that the increase in test anxiety, immediately before a test, are minimized and test scores are increased when the review questions …

In gender comparisons, females are still under-represented in the professional scientific world. Understanding how to engage females in the field of science during their secondary school careers could help reverse this phenomenon. The participants in this study were all 11th grade female students enrolled in some science class at the time. Through direct conversations in focus groups the results show that to actively engage females in science, they need to have fun, be taught by knowledgeable teachers, participate in hands-on activities and have challenging classes.

Perspectives Of Students Labeled With Emotional And/Or Behavioral Disorders On Their Transition Programs, Allison E. Gardner

Theses and Graduate Projects

Many students with the disability label of Emotional and/or Behavioral Disorders (EBD) have a history of extreme difficulty and failure in traditional school settings. This research examines the perspectives of four students labeled EBD on their current transition programming at Rosewood Transition Center (RTC). Incorporating sfudent perspectives into transition program planning may directly impact student success. The sfudents' …
