Within the worldwide business community, many analysis tools and techniques have evolved to assist in the evaluation and encouragement of financial health and fiscal viability. However, in the educational community, such analysis is uncommon. It has long been argued that educational institutions bear little resemblance to, and should not be treated like, businesses. This research identifies an educational environment where educational institutions are, indeed, businesses, and may greatly benefit from the use of business analyses. The primary goal of dropout prevention programs is to prevent as many students from leaving school as possible. The percentage of individuals leaving Nevada schools without obtaining a regular diploma is among the highest in the nation (Schmidt & Barr, 2004, p. 9). The primary methodology employed in this project was Content Analysis (Leedy & Ormrod, 2005). In Content Analysis, the researcher identifies specific examples of selected characteristics in similar documents defining the characteristics more clearly. In the following study, the author describes the effectiveness of teaching drama techniques to English as a Second Language high school students. A review of literature is provided that demonstrates how integrating ESL teaching strategies with those of drama enhances language acquisition. The end product of the study is a 1 semester drama unit which meets standards of learning established by the Colorado Department of Education. It includes specific examples, source material, and worksheets which accommodate a variety of learning styles and levels. The research project examines how courses in speech communication tend to affect students. The author specifically considers how courses in speech affect student test scores, understanding in other core courses, employability in the work force, preparation for college, and self worth. Prior studies, testimonials, and an informal study from the 2004 National Forensic League National Tournament are used to support the case. The intent of the presentation is to persuade school officials to start, strengthen, or save local forensics programs.

Effective questioning techniques and the use of effective wait time can create a learning environment where all students are encouraged to process information and feel comfortable sharing their opinion. The root of reflective thinking lies in asking good questions and knowing how to ask them and when to ask them. In this study a service-learning project was conducted with secondary students in a construction technology based course. Three research questions were considered; (1) does service learning projects help to engage student participation, (2) can students learn the course curriculum while participating in a service learning project, and (3) is there a correlation between student participation and student learning as it pertains to service learning projects? The data was collected through surveys, observations, interviews, and evaluations. The goal of this ethnographic research was to examine the perceptions of academic success of adolescent Haitian immigrant students who have arrived in the United States within the last five years and attend a public high school in Florida. The Haitian students were asked to explain the tensions they perceive between Haitian societal and educational norms and beliefs and American ones, and explain their perceptions and concerns regarding success. The importance of their perceptions as influences on their behavior was related to Bandura's Social Cognitive Learning Theory. Because many of the 16 types identified in the Myers Briggs Type Indicator may be present in any given classroom, it is important for educators be aware of their own personality type and related learning and teaching styles, and also be able to recognize their students' behaviors and learning preferences based on their knowledge of the MBTI and its dichotomous pairs of preferences. Author's abstract: This qualitative study examined imagination in secondary art textbooks, both historically and in the current educational climate. An arts-based inquiry, as described by Barone & Eisner (Jaeger, 1988), investigated how imagination is manifested in some art books, how the standards movement has tended to limit imagination in art textbooks, and how art textbooks could expand students' imaginations. Using a framework based on the theories of Dewey (1934/1980), Greene (2001), and Eisner (2002), four art textbooks were analyzed for their qualities which expand students' imaginations.
