The purpose of this study was to analyze teacher evaluation instruments in use in Tennessee public school systems relative to type of instrument and content in relation to six school system characteristics. Differences were sought between school systems in relation to participation in teacher contract negotiations, per pupil expenditure, average annual teacher salary, method of selection of superintendents, type of school system, and size of school system in their choice of type of instrument and in the content of their instruments. The problem was to determine whether a significant relationship existed among the present positions, career goals, and results of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator using selected college and university personnel administrators in the Southern Region of the College and University Personnel Association (CUPA). Literature was reviewed in order to determine the previous research of Myers-Briggs Type Indicator as it applies to college and university personnel administrators. The standard Myers-Briggs Type Indicator was chosen as the personality inventory instrument. Problem. The problem of this study was to determine the importance of competencies within critical administrative task areas as perceived by selected elementary school principals. Methods. Participants for the study were randomly selected from a total population of 429 elementary principals serving schools containing kindergarten through grade six in the state of North Carolina. A questionnaire was mailed to the 250 principals selected to participate in the study. Of the returned instruments 187 were complete and used for statistical analyses, with the data being analyzed using the SPSS Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. Fourteen null hypotheses were formulated and …

Purpose. The purpose of this study was to investigate perceived leadership behavior of principals in selected California public elementary schools with a high Hispanic student population. Two groups of schools were selected for comparison: those with high scores on the sixth grade California Assessment Program test of reading achievement, and those with low scores on the same test. Procedure. The population of this study was composed of California public elementary schools meeting specific criteria. The difficulty in developing an effective program of teacher evaluation is seen in the literature as stemming from the administrators' and teachers' different perspectives of evaluation. In this tenor the problem investigated four facets of an evaluation process: the need, purpose, procedure, and result of a teacher evaluation program found in evangelical Christian schools.
