The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between Maternal Teaching Style (MTS) as an expression of elaborated and restricted language codes and reading achievement in the fourth, fifth, and sixth grades. MTS was measured through the use of an observation schedule in a setting where mothers taught their children simple tasks on the Etch-A-Sketch toy. Achievement was measured by the Metropolitan Achievement Test. The purpose of this study was to determine if the System of Multicultural Pluralistic Assessment (SOMPA) information which included the Adaptive Behavior Inventory for Children (ABIC) and the Estimated Learning Potential (ELP) was redundant of information on the teacher-scored Hahnemann Elementary School Behavior Scale (HESB) and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised (WISC-R) subtest scores for male and female Black, White, and Chicano Learning Handicapped (LH) and Resource Specialist Program (RSP) fourth grade-age students. This study was designed to assess the impact of leadership training on inter-personal and intra-personal development of middle management in the banking and financial sector. The population under study was chosen from the bank and savings and loan industry in greater California. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Rational-Emotive Therapy (RET) in reducing levels of trait anxiety in undergraduates who enrolled in anxiety reduction workshops. S's were 44 volunteer male and female students from the University of the Pacific who enrolled in either an independent study or a mini-course series of 8 sessions, and were assigned to one of the three randomly designated groups: Rational-Emotive Therapy (RET), Attention Placebo (AP), or No-Treatment (NT). This study utilized a cross-cultural comparative approach to investigate: (1) whether differences existed in problems reported by three groups of students of both sexes, Mexican, Mexican-American, and Anglo-American; and (2) the extent to which these differences were influenced by ethnicity, sex, or socioeconomic status, or the interaction among those variables. The STS Youth Inventory--Form G and a Personal Data Sheet were administered in the Spring of 1979 to 710 students from five high schools in Northern California.
