Beneath the sturdy oaks that have weathered the stormy conflicts ot time, thare stands in Lottsburg District, Northumberland County, Virginia; the remains, now in crumbling deterioration, of a project for Negro education. Women, who prior to the War between the States had been Abolitionists, continued their work for the betterment of the Negroes at the cessation of hostilities.

It was the purpose of this study (1) to present the proposed plans for the music building at the Amos Alonzo Stagg High School, and (2) to show the growth in school population and interest in music which guided the planning of new music buildings over the past ten years (1945-1955) in Stockton that led up to the plans for this school’s music wing.

”Problems for the HIgh School Actor” has been prepared so that the teacher and the student have been given a certain degree of flexibility in its use. The order of presentation of the various problems, the amount of time spent on any one time, and the focusing on the major amount of emphasis may vary from class to class and from year to year as the interests, needs, and skills of the enrollee vary. The most educationally worthwhile method can be used to meet these varying situations.
