A Survey Of Playgrounds And Playground Equipment In The Elementary Schools Of New Mexico, Richard V. Traylor

The purpose of this study is to determine what types of playgrounds and playground equipment are being used in the elementary schools of New Mexico and to compare and evaluate the size, placement, and serviceability of these facilities according to standards set forth by the National Recreation Association and other authorities.

This study is largely concerned with information and material gathered from the elementary schools in municipal systems within this state, but information from two independent rural schools will be used. Private and parochial schools will not be considered in this study.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the two series of reports for the 1948-49 from forty-one member high schools of the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools in the state of New Mexico and to present such conclusions and recommendations for the programs of those schools as warranted by the data presented. The reports upon which this study is based include (1) Special Report on Criterion I (Form A-3) to the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, and (2) Annual General Report on Criteria (Form A-2, 1948-49).

The purpose of this study is to discover information which may contribute to a better understanding of the value of application photographs for prospective teaching positions. Specifically, this study is concerned with the following aspects: (1) the extent to which superintendents of schools use photographs in teacher selection; (2) the influence in which three physical characteristics, namely, size, contrast, and expression, may have upon teacher selection; and (3) the value which the superintendent of schools places on the photograph as an instrument of teacher selection.

It is the purpose of this study to inquire into the after-school status of these Ives Scholars and to determine the benefits derived by these from the assistance given. Byron H. Ives, founder of the trust fund yielding the scholarships, intended that women receiving the aid should teach; it is reasonable to check the extent to which this desire has been accomplished. This study intends to show, further, whether or not a careful selection of those receiving scholarships would be justified.
