The Effect Of Packed Red Blood Cell Infusion On Work Performance, Bruce H. Osborne May 1969

The Effect Of Packed Red Blood Cell Infusion On Work Performance, Bruce H. Osborne

Health, Exercise, and Sports Sciences ETDs

The purpose of this study was twofold: (1) to investigate the feasibility of transfusing packed red blood cells into dogs, and (2) to study the effect of polycythemia on the work capacity of dogs, as determined by maximum oxygen uptake and work performance tests.

The hypotheses tested following infusion of packed red blood cells were: (1) there would be an increase in hematocrit ratio; (2) there would be an increase in maximum oxygen uptake; (3) there would be an increase in work as measured in joules; and (4) that optimal oxygen uptake and work capacity would occur when hematocrit values …

The Effect Of Sportsmanship Instruction On Junior High School Boys, John Denny Massengale Apr 1969

The Effect Of Sportsmanship Instruction On Junior High School Boys, John Denny Massengale

Health, Exercise, and Sports Sciences ETDs

It was· the purpose of this study to determine if there was a difference in sportsmanship between junior high school boys who received formal sportsmanship instruction and junior high school boys who received no formal sportsmanship instruction. The study also attempted to determine if there were effects due to teacher differences which influenced sportsmanship and if there was interaction between instruction and teacher effects. It was also the purpose of this study to determine the relationship between two methods of measuring sportsmanship.

Two intact physical education classes were used in the experiment. Sportsmanship was taught by the regular instructor, and …

The Effect Of Video Feedback On Learning A Motor Skill, J. W. Sanders Jan 1969

The Effect Of Video Feedback On Learning A Motor Skill, J. W. Sanders

Health, Exercise, and Sports Sciences ETDs

The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of videotape feedback on the ability to learn a motor skill.

For the most effective learning experience, a combination of sensory impressions is essential. It was hypothesized that videotape replay would help the learner to form a clear perception of performance requirements, and it seemed advisable to study the impact that the medium of television replay might have on learning a motor skill. This study was one approximation toward this end.
