Influential Factors In Undergraduate Nursing Research Analysis, Anunay Bhattacharya, Marian Tabi Nov 2015

Influential Factors In Undergraduate Nursing Research Analysis, Anunay Bhattacharya, Marian Tabi

Anunay Bhattacharya

Undergraduate college students often tend to view research courses with negative attitudes. These negative attitudes have well documented in numerous studies. Prior research studies have documented that negative attitudes toward a course have been found to serve as barriers to learning.  In addition, these negative attitudes influence the amount of effort one is willing to invest in learning a subject.  Studies have shown that research experience in undergraduate education is associated with graduate education and future career in research. Nursing students in many undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs are often required to take a course in research to understand and utilize evidence-based …

Objective: To explore a relationship between culture and alcohol drinking Methods: Questionnaires on western cultural influence and drinking practices were administered to 1,091 tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade students in five senior high schools in Beijing in January 2002. Results: The mean cultural orientation scores for the three drinking groups were statistically different, F = 30.64, p=.03. A post hoc test indicated that significant differences in cultural orientation existed between non-drinkers (X=2.98, SD=.28, N=388) and occasional drinkers (X=3.08, SD=.27, N=418) and between non-drinkers and regular drinkers (X =3.13, SD=.26, N=149) Conclusions: The more westem-oriented the students were the more likely …

Student Affairs Program Evaluation: A Factor Analytic Solution, Oscar T. Mcknight Jul 2011

Student Affairs Program Evaluation: A Factor Analytic Solution, Oscar T. Mcknight

Oscar T McKnight Ph.D.

This program and presentation addresses the use of factor analysis in program evaluation. Specific focus will highlight the development and selection of marker items. The goal is to label and interpret factors according to targeted questions of interest. Therefore, results are not only descriptive, but predictive - with practical application to student retention and satisfaction. Process is useful for benchmarking best practices; measuring student satisfaction and learning; tracking student participation; evaluating program results; determining future program or service needs; and, assessing effectiveness of delivered programs.

Construct Validity Of The Bender-Gestalt Ii: Comparison With Wechlser Intelligence Scale For Children-Iii, Ryan Allen, Scott Decker, James Choca Jan 2006

Construct Validity Of The Bender-Gestalt Ii: Comparison With Wechlser Intelligence Scale For Children-Iii, Ryan Allen, Scott Decker, James Choca

Ryan A. Allen

This study investigated the relationships of visuomotor constructs as measured by the Bender-Gestalt II with the subtests of the WISC-III. A factor analysis included the standardized Copy and Recall scores of the Bender-Gestalt II and subtest scores of the WISC-III. The Copy score was predicted to load on measures of visual and spatial thinking and the Recall score on a short-term memory factor. The results of a principal components analysis suggest a four-factor solution with the Bender-Gestalt II Copy score loading on a visual and spatial thinking factor primarily with WISC-III Perceptual Organization subtests. The Recall score loaded on a …

An Analysis Of Instructional Components And Their Effects On Task Engagement And Self-Aggression Within A Classroom Setting, John J. Wheeler, Stacy L. Carter, Michael R. Mayton, Rebekah A. Thomas Nov 2002

An Analysis Of Instructional Components And Their Effects On Task Engagement And Self-Aggression Within A Classroom Setting, John J. Wheeler, Stacy L. Carter, Michael R. Mayton, Rebekah A. Thomas

John J. Wheeler

A brief structural analysis of instructional variables assessed levels of task engagement and self-aggression behavior in a seven-year- old child with multiple disabilities. Results indicated increased levels of task-engagement and reduced levels of self-aggression as stepwise changes in treatment components occurred, validating use of structural analysis of instructional variables in the classroom setting.
