This presentation explores ways in which librarians and faculty members can collaborate to improve information literacy outcomes for students in Immersive English Programs. Participants will be introduced to the Association for College and Research Libraries Framework for Information Literacy, using curriculum mapping and backward design to ensure skill development and challenges English language learners may encounter while developing their information literacy skills.

K-12 students whose first language is not English are identified upon enrollment in U.S. schools through a home language survey and are immediately assessed to determine whether English as a second language (ESL) services are required. This workshop looks at two technologies that can be used to energize traditional poster and writing assignments to bring them beyond text: Glogster and Blogger. Both are free, easy to use websites with which students can create web pages with images, text, and audio to share with their classmates and the world. Huebner (1979) categorises articles into 4 categories according to whether the noun phrase the articles encode is of specific reference and whether it is known to the hearer. Ekiert (2002) adds a fifth category which is made up of the use of the article to encode noun phrases in idioms.
