Assessing Outcomes Of Simulation In Communication Sciences And Disorders, Erin S. Clinard
Teaching and Learning in Communication Sciences & Disorders
Assessment is an ongoing process that is necessary at every stage of designing, implementing, and evaluating simulation-based learning experiences (SBLEs). Designing and aligning a high-quality assessment process provides instructors and researchers with valuable data to understand if students have met the desired simulation learning objectives, where students are in their learning, and opportunities to enhance the SBLE. This reflection discusses the importance of assessing student learning outcomes as well as the effectiveness of all simulation-based learning experiences (SBLEs) in communication sciences and disorders (CSD). While the benefits and effectiveness of simulation have been demonstrated in other health professions, simulation research …

Architectural Design Process Management, Nesreen Alkassabany, Magdy Mousa
Architecture and Planning Journal (APJ)
Creating a new building can be seen as an unequivocal process which requires input from a variety of resources, using a range of abilities and skills to arrange and manage factors as well as resolving combative and quarrelsome issues. The performance of the design process in the building industry has a great influence on the success of subsequent processes in construction projects and also on the outcome of the quality of the final product. Despite its importance, relatively little significance has been given to the management of the design process. The research will dissect and analyze the process of building …

Problems Of Design Juries In Schools Of Architecture, Lamis Kanso, Maged Alyyoussef
Architecture and Planning Journal (APJ)
Throughout the last few decades, the architectural design education has passed many phases of critique and evaluation development. The process of critique continues in the different stages of design, starting from choosing the site, until the final submission. The jury committees are often held at the final stage in order to evaluate the architectural product. Although there are specific methods to systemize the process of evaluation, but unfortunately some academic members in jury committees do not apply these methods, which results in negative judgments on student’s project, and that could generate a feeling of dissatisfaction. This paper, therefore, aims to …

Professionalization is a critical component of organizational capacity and productivity. Yet, rural advisory service (RAS) providers who are charged with disseminating research-driven techniques and ideas that enhance agricultural production and addressing local stakeholder needs are often overlooked in this area. One of the critical disconnects is the lack of consistent capacities for RAS networks to effectively support the professionalization of RAS providers. Based on a framework analyzing the typical milestones associated with professionalization efforts, capacity building, and social capital the study provides insights into the support mechanism needed for professionalization. Specifically, a Delphi a panel of 31 experts from 24 countries …

As one part of a larger multi-methodological assessment tool development project, this manuscript maps existing quantitative measures onto the six essential competencies and associated learning outcomes established by the Social Science Research Council Panel on Public Speaking. This manuscript compiles dozens of measurement resources, aligned by outcome, and also identifies areas where future assessment measures development is needed. While there are many measures available for evaluating outcomes related to creating messages, critically analyzing messages, and demonstrating self-efficacy, there …
