The goal of this study was to examine to what extent learning disabilities teachers, in Jeddah governorate, use evidence-based approaches in teaching mathematics to students with learning disabilities, and to see whether there were any differences according to sex, education level, teaching level, training courses, and experience. The researchers employed a descriptive methodology using a survey questionnaire. The study population consisted of all elementary and middle school teachers who teach students learning disabilities. The study participants included 248 teachers of students with learning disabilities. It has now become crucial to develop strategies and methods to effectively educate students with learning disabilities in mathematics. Strategies that target and improve student’s problem solving ability should positively impact their overall math performance, grades, graduation rates, and postsecondary success (Montague, Enders, & Deitz, 2011). This paper will review research-based practices in algebra employed to successfully educate upper middle and high school students with learning disabilities and provide a summary of those practices which are effective and useful.

The purpose of this paper is to acknowledge APD as a distinct learning disability thereby warranting its own disability category under IDEA. Secondly, this paper explains the heterogeneous nature of APD and the likeliness of co-occurring disorders associated with APD. The negative impacts of APD on behavioral, emotional, and social development are real and should not be underestimated. And thirdly, this paper urges parents, teachers, and school administrators to understand their role in advocating for correct diagnosis of learning disorders in an effort to provide their students with the most effective early intervention programs and elementary school instruction.

This quasi-experimental study investigated whether there was a difference in the number of memes comprehended on an assessment test among adolescents who were typically developing, adolescents who were deaf or hard of hearing, and adolescents with language disorders. Background: The aim of this study was to determine the initial clinical and classroom utility of the Inventory of Reading Occupations (IRO), a new tool to assess children’s reading participation.

Method: The study used phenomenological qualitative and descriptive methods. The participants included 38 occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, classroom teachers, and parents who completed or reviewed responses of children on the IRO. To provide triangulation, 20 of the children who completed the IRO were interviewed. Data were thematically analyzed and then categorized using a central Strengths-Weaknesses-Opportunities-Threats premise.

This study integrated technology tools into a reading comprehension intervention that used explicit instruction to teach strategies (i.e., asking questions, making connections, and coding the text to monitor for meaning) to mixed-ability small groups, which included four English Learners with learning disabilities in a fourth-grade general education classroom. We used a multiple baseline design across participants to evaluate the effects of instruction on strategy application as measured through comprehension rubrics (Keene, 2006) and on comprehension-question answering as measured through researcher-developed literal and inferential comprehension questions. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effects of Direct Instruction (DI) flashcard procedure, combined with strategies and rewards on multiplication fact accuracy of two elementary school-age students. A single subject replication design across three and four sets of multiplication facts was used to evaluate outcomes. The results indicated improvement in math performance for each participant. Follow-up data indicated maintenance of treatment effects over time. Finally, pre and posttest outcomes found generalization to correct writing of math facts for each participant. The benefits of employing DI flashcards in a resource room or home were discussed.

It appears that most researchers favor the analogy of FLLD to obesity rather than to measles as both LD and obesity are conditions which reside on a continuum. The study examined EFL student-teachers' perceptions of FL learning problems with regard to the analogy to obesity and to measles from previous studies.
