The design of the built environment plays a key role in occupational participation. When the built environment is poorly designed, it severely limits accessibility for an individual with a disability. In contrast, when the built environment is well designed, it can support the occupational performance of individuals of all ages and abilities. Interprofessional collaboration between occupational therapists and architects can improve environmental barriers to occupational participation within home and community settings. The Need
Students need to meet classmates. After two years of online-only education, returning to in-person labs is a new experience many students find uncomfortable and challenging.

The Existing Resources
Students in the same lab have several similarities that include enrolling in the same lecture section, similar schedules, the same completed prerequisites, similar majors, and career aspirations.

Digital Choice Boards and Interactive Learning Materials for Teachers and Students

This choice board invites students and teachers to:

  • Create a timeline of gender equity in sports since the passage of Title IX in 1970.
  • Develop a media campaign (videos, social media posts, ads) that highlights the history of female athletes in mixed gender sports.
  • Design a mini-golf hole based on the achievements of one of the founder members of the LPGA (Ladies Pro Golf Association)
  • And more ways to explore and learn women's sports herstories.

General education teachers should remember that all students are general education students, first. We need to be prepared to work with students of all abilities in our classrooms. As general education teachers, we have an active role on a child’s IEP team and an active role during the IEP meeting. This assignment asked preservice teachers to develop a script of what they would say at an IEP meeting of one character from four different novels that would be considered a child with twice-exceptionalities.
