The purpose of the GradeBoard application is to develop a mobile application as a front end to interact with data stored in a cloud-based system. It leverages cloud computing features such as auto-scaling, load-balancing and NoSQL data stores. The GradeBoard application helps instructors keep track of student activities and gives students an opportunity to know how they are performing by comparing their grades with other students through a game-like leader board interface, thus creating a competitive environment in the class. This project was intended to build communication between the school and the home. With the use of a multimedia presentation, DVD, school and classroom expectations were communicated to the parents. A survey was given to first grade parents to determine whether this DVD would be beneficial. The results of that survey showed that there was a need, and parents were wanting information in areas of school and classroom expectations, academic standards, disciplining students, and character development. Through the Assessment, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation process (ADDIE), a DVD presentation was designed, developed, and implemented to communicate these learning objectives.

This project examines the use of technology as a vehicle for bringing training and help to migrant agricultural workers, specifically women and their children in the rural areas of Coachella Valley. The project observes use of technology by governmental and nonprofit organizations to improve the quality of life style of women who are among the poorest social class in rural United States. To gather the needed data for this project, two primary methods of collection were used: participant observant and interview surveys. The project developed a web site for a high school physics projected called "Electric Motorboat Drag Racing." The web site was produced following the ADDIE instructional design model (analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate) and was designed using key usability concepts identified through research: speed, content, appearance, and navigation (SCAN). The web site was developed and tested by asking experts for their feedback and by having participants use the web site. The web site was implemented in physics classrooms and data from 43 participants were evaluated. The data showed 97 percent of the participants' boats successfully completed the five-meter drag race. …

This study compared student satisfaction and academic performance in online and face-to-face classes. 105 ITT Technical Institute students who were simultaneously enrolled in one online course and two on-campus courses were surveyed and interviewed. Factors examined included student to instructor communication, student to student interaction, content selection for online courses and course management for online courses. Sixty-four percent of the students did not pass their online courses and expressed dissatisfaction with the learning process. Course components and processes that could be improved were identified.

Three multimedia strategies were tested to promote individual and collaborative meaning making: ePortfolios, eJournals, and the Class Know-It-All. This project examined the need for continuing education for teachers, particularly in the area of technology integration. It includes an exploration of the interdependence of technology and pedagogy. It developed an on-line extended community of practice to support professional educators attempting to implement Inspiration®, a commercial software application. The project presents a research-based justification for employing cognitive mapping strategies in a wide variety of pedagogical contexts, provides a dynamic list of examples demonstrating concrete applications which are connected to content and technology standards, and examines current design features for websites.
