The CSU History Department and Educational Service Center of Cuyahoga County partnered together with the generous support of Ohio Humanities to present the Migration in Global Context Teacher Symposium. The conference is the culmination of events associated with the Migration in Global Context: History, Narrative, and Projectbased Learning 20152016 program.

Migration in Global Context Symposium
This lesson was used for my seventh and eighth grade students to illustrate the difficulties in a life of a migrant worker. Our school changed our main fund raiser from selling World's Finest Chocolate to Fair Trade Chocolate over concerns of fair wages and conditions for the workers. This lesson, combined with a lesson from the parent volunteers on the business side, illustrated how unfair the conditions and pay were for migrant workers.

Migration in Global Context Symposium
This presentation is a collaborative effort by two educators from the disciplines of art and history. The PowerPoint presentation documents the the cross curricular migration themed event that explored migration in Slavic Village, Ohio. Historical speakers and visits to historical sites engaged students throughout the event. Through oral history and the visual arts students engaged in project based learning.
