The purpose of this action research is to investigate the needs and opportunities for high school math teachers pertaining to the adoption of Schoology, a learning management system (LMS). Data was gathered from 98 students, 13 teachers, 24 parents/families and 8 technology integration experts in an effort to gain a multitude of perspectives relating to Schoology use at the high school level. The intent of this study was to see how specific online tools could be used to increase special education students’ literacy. The study took place in two public high schools in metropolitan areas. The students involved in the study included both general and special education students, males and females, and grade levels 9 through 12. Data was collected using pre- and post- assessment reading tests, student/teacher reflections, vocabulary practice, and annotated readings. The purpose of this study was to determine if parent participation outside of school could improve their child’s knowledge of key curriculum words when shared in their first language. Six pre-school English Language Learners (ELL) and their families participated in the study. Data was collected through two parent surveys, participation in class website and an online tool called VoiceThread which provided supports in the first languages of the students, and a pre and posttest of student knowledge of curriculum vocabulary words.
