Teachers’ Perceptions Of The In-School Suspension Program At Centerville High School, Joshua Vaccar

This qualitative study provides teacher perceptions of the in-school suspension (ISS) program at Centerville High School. The study was based on semi-structured interviews of fifteen individuals, representing a sample of teachers in the math and science departments. Interview questions focused on three constructs: benefits, limitations, and suggestions for improvement. Overall, the results show that the teachers have found the ISS program to be an effective and necessary tool to help with classroom management. However, teachers have also reported areas of concern, such as, efficiency and functionality of the program. Other benefits, limitations and areas for improvement were also noted. These …
