Our education system is largely outdated and ill prepares students for their future. The following improvement plan seeks to transform pedagogy into that which is student centered. To do this, schools must update their curriculum and teaching methods, implement the latest technology, and redesign the classroom setting. The current reality shows that these skills are not often taught, yet early childhood remains a vital time of development and is an ideal time to introduce these skills. This school improvement plan presents mindfulness and movement as strategies to explicitly teach self-regulation and executive function skills in an inclusive setting. As strategies are implemented, reflection and assessment will occur to better understand their effectiveness.
