Imagine, for example, that you are an individual who is blind. You want to attend a class but cannot read the syllabus. Or you are deaf and cannot hear your instructor's voice. People with disabilities have been confronted with these barriers for years when they have tried to participate in our educational system. Now, however, there is legislation that has been passed to tear down these barriers. On July 26, 1990, President Bush signed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) into law.
