Assessing The Relationship Between Principal Priorities, Written Wellness Policies, And School Wellness Policy Implementation, Courtney Trapp

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to assess the relationship between principal priorities, written wellness policies, and school wellness policy implementation. Methods: Principal priorities of nutrition and physical activity, written wellness policy quality and degree of policy implementation were assessed in 95 schools from eight states using the principal priorities questionnaire, the Wellness School Assessment Tool (WellSAT) version 2.0, and the Wellness School Assessment Tool for Implementation (WellSAT-I), respectively. Data is analyzed using Stata Statistical Software: Release 15. All data is presented as means ± standard error Statistical significant was set at p≤0.05.

There is limited research done on the relationship between the program utilization at a campus wellness facility and the symptoms of depression in college freshmen. College students have been found to have a higher prevalence of depressive symptoms than the general population, possibly due to the stressors college life can add. Although support systems are in place for student-athletes, African Americans remain underrepresented in careers requiring a graduate education, including intercollegiate athletic departments (Okahana, Feaster, & Allum, 2016). The purpose of this qualitative, phenomenological study was to explore the factors influencing an NCAA Mid-major, Division I African American student-athletes’ choice of pursuing graduate school. Researchers identified themes utilizing Critical Race Theory (CRT) and Student Involvement Theory frameworks to explain the influencing factors. Preschool-age children have the potential to be influenced by their physical home environment and their parents’ physical activity (PA) practices more than older children as preschool-age children are more reliant on parents for PA opportunities. Previous research with this focus has relied predominantly on various subjective assessments of child activity, often resulting in overestimation of PA and underestimation of sedentary time (ST). Two-hundred and twenty successful and 143 unsuccessful free throw attempts, performed by 20 members of the South Dakota State University men's varsity basketball team, were photographed. Components of each trial which were analyzed included: (1) angle of release, (2) angle of entry, (3) height of the arch, (4) horizontal distance of the point of release from the highest point of the arch, (5) horizontal distance of the highest point of the arch to the front of the rim, and (6) height of the release. The purpose of this study was to determine the present status of intercollegiate varsity athletic letterwinners [sic] of Augustana College, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Of equal importance to this study were the opinions and attitudes of these athletes toward their varsity athletic experience at Augustana College. All varsity letterwinners [sic] included in records obtained from the Alumni and Athletic office files, 1920 to 1977, were sent a questionnaire. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of two types of visual feedback on performance of selected uneven parallel bar skills. The subjects were 30 female college undergraduates enrolled in gymnastics and tumbling courses in the Fitness and Lifetime Activities Program (non-majors) or the Professional Skills Program (HPER majors) at South Dakota State University.
