A Study Of Job Satisfaction Of The Elementary School Secretary, John Raymond Chirco

Dissertations

The importance of the role of the elementary school secretary was established along with the findings that job satisfaction may be related to job performance. It was also pointed out that the relationship between job satisfaction and the independent variables that may be related to or influence it have not been identified. This led to the problem of how job satisfaction may be improved and therefore possibly increase performance. Thus, the purpose of this study was to identify those independent variables that may be related to job satisfaction.

Literature regarding job satisfaction varied greatly and was very scarce in terms …

A Model For Inservice Professional Development Of Educational Administrators, Rofithah Hashim

Dissertations

The factor most influential in the decision to undertake this developmental study was a directive received from the Director General of Education, Ministry of Education, Malaysia. The second factor was the perception that the obsolescence of previously learned skills and understandings dictates a need for a systematic, comprehensive, and task-oriented inservice professional development of educational administrators within the contemporary system.

The purposes of this study were twofold. The first was to develop a model and the second was to propose a set of task descriptions appropriate and necessary for implementing the model.

A Study Of Needed Competencies For The Position Of Principal In The Guam Public Schools, Jose Quinene Cruz

Dissertations

The purpose of this study was to examine differences in perceptions between various educators regarding needed competencies for the position of principal in Guam. The study was undertaken because of the relative lack of empirical data in Guam regarding competencies for education administrator positions. In addition, there appeared to be a need to examine the perceptions of others on competencies for the principalship outside of those included by Holder in 1962.

The research population consisted of 1,105 educators of the Guam school system. All the 34 principals, 16 assistant principals, and 14 administrators and 18 consultants of the central office …

The Nature Of Man And Educational Administration: A Ternary Function, Ralph Moberly Coupland

Dissertations

Purpose. The primary purpose of this study is to discover and present the fundamental and broadly generalizable presuppositional platforms upon which the theory, methodology, and practice of educational administration should be built, and to develop and present a theoretical model for the educational administrative function that is built upon these presuppositional platforms.

Method. The method may be described as …

Method. A demographic questionnaire and the Temperament Inventory were administered to 486 teachers, …

The Relationship Among Selected Variables Influencing Decision Making In The Roles Of Public Community College Academic Deans, Sylvan Alphonso Lashley Jan 1981

The Relationship Among Selected Variables Influencing Decision Making In The Roles Of Public Community College Academic Deans, Sylvan Alphonso Lashley

Dissertations

Problem. Much descriptive research has been undertaken on the academic dean's role which has been determined by the perceptions of significant others.

Since the dean has had several categories of prescribed roles, scholars have tended to emphasize these roles and approach administrator-preparation from a prescriptive basis. This approach, though useful, ignores a crucial dimension--the variables, forces, or stimuli that impinge upon and influence the dean in his/her decision-making areas.

An underlying issue that has been largely ignored is the relationship of environmental forces or stimuli and decision making areas--it has been unclear what relationship exists between decision making and the …
