In choosing subjects of this nature there are certain causes or reasons which influence such a choice. In this case it is not my purpose to offer a defense for the study of Latin as an educational subject, nor is it my purpose to propose a special method of presenting Latin as to make it a more attractive part of the curriculum. I am influenced principally by the fact that among educators and Latin teachers themselves there is a widespread divergence of opinion as to what ought to be aims of teaching Latin.

It has done much to shape the lives and customs of the people is necessary to obtain an understanding of our language, our literature, our religion our art and out government. This fact makes Latin as their language, and important topic for study by all nations in all ages.
