Creating a habit of reflective practice promotes ongoing and sustainable instructional improvement for preservice teachers. Furthermore, reflection enables teachers to strengthen their instruction through critical analysis of student learning and engagement. While reflection may be intuitive for an in-service teacher, preservice teachers need this experience to develop intentional and automatic reflective practice. Purpose

The purpose of this study was to determine how Utah educators and school board members view the future of education in the state. This was done by comparing the ratings for importance and the predictions on the time of occurrence of 53 educational events. An event was an incident or happening which might effect the education of the state. The hypotheses were based on the assumption that the various educational groups would hold differing views concerning the future of Utah education.

There are numerous ways, both written and oral, in which the schools can report pupil progress to parents. Promising practices include parent-teacher conferences, notes to parents, combination of narrative reports and parent-teacher conferences, and progress check sheets indicating, among other things, attitudes and behavior.

Educators have long recognized the inadequacy of the report card and the traditional marking system. Studies show that no two teachers mark just alike, even with a common set of standards to follow. Children work for marks rather than self-improvement. Marks, alone, cannot and do not tell a complete story.
