Research and publication is an inherent value at all institutions of higher education throughout the world. Regardless of the motivation, faculty research fulfills a vital need for new knowledge generation. The purpose of the current study was to pilot test a survey instrument to evaluate factors that have an affect on faculty research at one public comprehensive four-year institution. The Business School in cooperation with the Office of Institutional Research created an instrument to track changes in faculty motivation and research involvement over time, with an emphasis on submissions and publications as effective outcomes.
