It was the purpose of this study to provide an historical analysis of the United States Army’s dependent school program in Europe in operation since the summer of 1946. This study is devoted primarily to a consideration of socio-economic status in relation to achievement in mathematics. The problem was to determine whether health textbooks include content and material that make them valuable and important tools for a functional health instruction course. The area of this investigation was limited to sixteen health texts designed for use in the seventh and eighth grades.
