Born in San Francisco in 1925, Art Dugoni's immigrant parents and grandparents taught him that in America, the "impossible" was always possible.

With an early life shadowed by the Great Depression and the Second World War, he entered the Navy's V-12 officer's program at Gonzaga University as a pre-dent student, in 1943. There, he met a strikingly: beautiful seventeen-year-old named Katherine Groo. For Art, it was love at first sight.
