This study examines the demographics, and job, services, responsibilities, barriers, facilitators, and satisfaction of Texas school social workers. A survey was emailed to Texas school social workers identified on a state list. A convergent parallel mixed method design was used to compare and discuss quantitative and qualitative data obtained. The data reveal consistency with existing school social work literature related to demographics and provided novel information on work characteristics, job satisfaction, work barriers and facilitators, and program preparation of school social workers. The purpose of this study is to examine how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the learning of students in public education through the analysis of standardized assessment performance before and during COVID-19. The study also compares virtual learning and face-to-face students’ change in performance on the standardized assessments. To answer the research questions, the quantitative research uses 5th and 7th grade math and reading STAAR data from 2019 and 2021 for the same cohort of students at a suburban ISD in Texas. The instructional feedback cycle is an essential tool in the field of education. When implemented successfully, feedback has the potential to significantly affect student and teacher growth. However, instructional feedback frequently goes unimplemented or unvalued, which can potentially lead to a decrease in student performance or the instructional effectiveness of the teacher. The purpose of this quantitative research study is to examine teacher perceptions of feedback received from instructional coaches and to examine seasoned and unseasoned teachers’ implementation of feedback in their instructional practices. The purpose of this study was to compare the reading performances of third grade students in Texas Reading First Initiative participating and non-participating campuses. Additionally, comparisons were made on third grade reading TAKS campus performance based on three Texas Education Agency textbook supported adoptions. Furthermore, campus TAKS reading performance was compared based on curricula and reading textbooks. Lastly, an examination of the participating and non-participating campus TAKS reading results and teacher interviews were described. As of January 1996 a new process has been implemented in teacher dismissal cases in Texas public schools. In the new process a hearing examiner is assigned by the Texas Education Agency to oversee fact-finding duties in mid-contract teacher dismissals, thereby circumventing the previously exclusive adjudicative role of school board members in dismissal cases.

The purpose of this research was to examine the English and Spanish academic writing proficiency of pre-service bilingual teachers at a university in south Texas and attempt to establish factors that have influenced that proficiency or lack of proficiency. Ninety-four participants who volunteered to take part in the study completed a 50-question survey that solicited demographic information and perceived proficiencies in English and Spanish. After collecting the data from the survey, participants wrote essays on four separate themes. Two of the essays were written in Spanish, and two were written in English.
