It was the problem of this study to identify basic characteristics, which teachers of the disadvantaged should possess in order to achieve maximum effectiveness in their teaching. Also, the study attempted to discover and reveal factual data on the disparity, which exists between the characteristics, which teachers presently working in this capacity possess, and those characteristics which are preferred.

Sattler Burns Anderson made a study of the Junior High School intramural sports program in the Richmond public schools. One of the purposes of the study, which was based on a questionnaire, was to get the student’s reactions to an intramural program. A large percentage of students participated in intramural sports (90.8 percent) and five main reasons were given by them for their participation: (1) to have fun, (2) to maintain better health through exercising in sports, (3) to improve athletic skills, (4) to maintain friendly relations with classmates, and (5) to compete against others.
