This project improves student conceptual and epistemological knowledge in the sciences while developing a template for formative assessment in a general education course at the University of Maine. A general education course in Intuitive Quantum Physics is being created in which non-science students learn quantum physics through simple observations, basic logical reasoning, and graphical analysis. Materials from three proven curricula are being adapted to include explicit discussions of epistemological issues. Aquila Theatre Company will present Shakespeare's classic tragedy Julius Caesar, which traces the conspiracy against Caesar, his assassination and the aftermath. The play reflects the general anxiety Shakespeare and his contemporaries had over who would succeed Elizabeth I. The elderly Elizabeth refused to name a successor, leading to fears that a civil war would break out upon her death.

After a season where the Women Black Bears went 5-5 overall, placing fourth at the America East Championships, and setting five new individual records, the women are eager to prove this is not a rebuilding season. University of Maine head men's basketball coach Ted Woodward begins his fourth season at the helm of the Black Bears. It will be one of the youngest Maine teams in recent memory, as the Black Bears return just one starter and five letterwinners from the 2006- 07 campaign. The Black Bears open the season with just one senior and two juniors on the roster. The majority of the team will be comprised of sophomores and freshmen (six).
