Adolescence is a time of important developmental changes and the formation of relationships outside of the family. While most experiences children have with dating relationships are positive toward their developmental growth, there is the potential for unhealthy or abusive relationships. Adolescent dating violence (ADV) is a significant public health issue. Nearly 9% of teenagers experiencing physical violence by the time they turn 18 (CDC, 2014).
