I discuss three different writing assignments that I have used in my calculus courses. These assignments are introduced with a discussion of purpose and audience. Defining these qualities of an assignment will ensure that your writing assignments are more successful. The assignments discussed and explored here represent three different purposes: personal, informational and a blend of the two. The audiences for these assignments are diverse and force the students to incorporate particular modes of writing that demonstrate much of their thinking. Dysfunctional Leadership And Its Effects, Erin Cornelius

This qualitative study investigated the different types of dysfunctional leadership and how each one affects both employees and organizations negatively. The study has been conducted to fill in some of the gaps in leadership research; such as the fact that there has not been much research to show why organizations tolerate or even reinforce dysfunctional leadership behaviors. This study included a review of relevant literature combined with subjective interpreted interviews with seven participants all of whom have had unique experiences with dysfunctional leadership styles.

This study assess es the effectiveness of implementing a pre-employment training program as a selective hiring strategy to improve quality recruitment and increase employee retention . In order to assess a local organization's pre-employment program, a mailer survey instrument was sent t o 120 employees of t h e organization, both past and present . This paper examines a group of insurance professionals that developed into a self-directed Team at Buffalo National Insurance. The Team was not showing Team unity, thus, the Team did not meet performance goals. Led by an internal consult that collaborated with management, the Team and the Team Leader created an environment that allowed for Team unity and the effective use of a new problem-solving tool known as Continuous Improvement Model (CIM). Advances in technology have made graphing calculators more readily available to high school students and reformed standards in New York State encourage the integration of technology as a tool to improve student comprehension. This is a case study of three students (a typical A student, a special education C/ D student and an unmotivated D/ F student) as they are introduced to graphing relations (functions and non-functions) with the assistance of the graphing calculator. This project concerns the issue of objectively evaluating Human Resource Development activities and interventions. The focus is: How are Human Resource Development activities and interventions objectively evaluated? A review of literature on past and current practices identifies how Human Resource Development activities and interventions have traditionally been evaluated objectively and what methods of objective evaluation are currently used by researchers and practitioners alike. This quantitative study investigated the relationships between perceptions of empowerment and position in a non-profit organization using three widely used empowerment instruments. This study also examined relationships that may or may not exist between the three instruments used in the survey. The purpose of this study is to investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of a training consortium of area colleges and university security departments. This cooperative training effort will develop and train experienced security officers. The area security directors decided to attempt this consortium and initiated seven pilot training programs since June 2001.
