Pugs: The Terrible Truth, Hadley Krewall, Tee Kesnan
Student Research
For centuries, pugs have been bred for their large eyes and squished in face, also known as "brachycephalic (squashed nose/flat-faced)," unknowingly creating man-made health complications that now affect their day-to-day life. The Kennel Club states that “50% of pugs have significant breathing problems and only 7% to 15% of pugs breathe like a normal dog.” In her poster presentation, Hadley Krewall hopes to share her interesting research findings on the serious health issues that pugs face, and the ways to stop the breed from continuing to reproduce. The presenter also hopes to address what the Kennel Club and even the …
Have You Tried Breaking Up?... We Did And This Is What We Found, Phillip Joe Fitzsimmons
Have You Tried Breaking Up?... We Did And This Is What We Found, Phillip Joe Fitzsimmons
Faculty Articles & Research
Abstract: This presentation is targeted primarily toward new repository administrators. During early projects on the Digital Commons platform in 2016 we uploaded full-issue PDFs for some titles. Soon we uploaded the Administrative Issues Journal and Mythlore with links to each article of the issue homepage. The difference in usage numbers of journals with full-issue PDFs to those that are broken down to the article level is huge. The result is that we returned to break up the full-issue items down.
In this presentation Phillip Fitzsimmons will show usage reports showing the low numbers of items presented as full-issue PDFs with …
Student Perceptions Of How Faculty Advising Supports The Academic Persistence Of Students Of Color At One Predominantly White Institution, Wendy Yoder
Faculty Articles & Research
Racial disparity exists in the rates of persistence and degree attainment within American higher education. Some racial minority groups experience high rates of college attrition, resulting in lower lifetime wages and higher rates of both unemployment and incarceration than people who earn a bachelor degree. Although many studies have researched the causes of minority student attrition, less is known about factors leading to the academic success of students of color. Academic advising is well-defined in the literature as related to student satisfaction and retention.

Allegorical Reference To Oxford University Through Classical Myth In The Early Poetry Of Dorothy L. Sayers: A Reading Of “Alma Mater” From Op.I.., Barbara L. Prescott
Mythlore: A Journal of J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Charles Williams, and Mythopoeic Literature
Dorothy L. Sayers is rarely considered to be an author of mythopoeic literature or one whose own writings contain the metaphors or allegories of myth and legend. Yet, as a young adult at Oxford University, Sayers produced a variety of poems that, centering upon Oxford and her experiences as a student, explored mythic themes as they related to the university. Her early poems, written while an undergraduate at Oxford and directly afterward, were built upon three motifs: classical mythology, mediaeval legend, and Christian romanticism. These Oxford-centered poems were included in Dorothy L. Sayers’s first book titled, OP. I., published …
