STEM education is a pedagogical approach that regularly incorporates technology education as well as the other disciplines to contextualise content.  However, what constitutes a STEM program can be confusing as it can differ greatly from program to program.   Some examples of this difference can adopt multidisciplinary versions of STEM, whereas other programs may be more collaborative such as interdisciplinary or even holistic and offer a transdisciplinary STEM approach.

It is difficult to ignore the increased use of technological innovations in today’s world, which has led to various calls for the integration of engineering into K-12 science standards. The need to understand how engineering is currently being brought to science classrooms is apparent and necessary in order to address these calls for integration. This multiphase, mixed-methods study investigated the classroom practices and beliefs of high school physical science teachers following an intensive professional development on physics and engineering integration. Using third-party education agents is a well-established practice in many countries. As a result, the number of international students placed by agents has grown considerably over the past years. However, in the US, the practice of using agents to increase international enrollment still carries a derogatory connotation in the educational community. Inexperience with agents coupled with incomplete knowledge about students’ experiences using agents may contribute to misunderstandings about agent recruitment practices that may lead to biased institutional decisions.
