The goal was to assess the effects of an intervention program, based on cooperative learning and involving the whole school community, on the emotional and social evolution of a student who had suffered cyberbullying. The student, her parents, the school administration, a teacher and the student's classmates agreed to participate in the study. A qualitative research design was used, which included interviews, discussion groups and diaries. The information obtained was structured in three categories: cyberbullying detection and response, psychoeducational intervention program, and emotional and social evolution. Interpretation and analysis of qualitative data inevitably involves a collision with one’s own lived experience. This paper reflects on a postgraduate research project that employed the methodology of grounded theory to determine themes around the meaning that individuals in a school community give to the term spirituality. Reflecting on the process has highlighted ways in which unexamined personal assumptions were at play as the researcher conducted analysis, influencing the interpretation of data. I seek the experience of the primary school children who participated in the SEL Activities instructing self-regulation skill. I designed the SEL Activities and conducted them with the participant students’ classroom teacher. I used phenomenological methods (Moustakas, 1994) to collect data through semi-structured interviews with primary school children who are 10-years-old and analysed the data by identifying significant statements and then clustering the significant statements into themes, writing textural and structural descriptions, before finally arriving at a composite description.
