Student Perceptions In Conferring: A Phenomenographic Exploration Of Student Perceptions On Teacher-Student Writing Conferences, Jacqueline Johnson
Student Perceptions In Conferring: A Phenomenographic Exploration Of Student Perceptions On Teacher-Student Writing Conferences, Jacqueline Johnson
Doctor of Education in Secondary and Middle Grades Education Dissertations
This phenomenographic research explores how students perceive one-on-one (teacher-student) writing conferences. At least twice a year, I sit with my 9th-grade English students to discuss their writing. Together, we go over their last writing assignment. I coach them to make their writing better while pointing out positive elements of their writing. I check for understanding by having the students verbally repeat a summary of their conference. While I feel connected to the students and their writing by conferring, I have rarely considered what they thought about the conference. After our conference, do they feel like they truly learned something? I …
Investigating The Pedagogical Content Knowledge Of Georgia 6-12 Science Teachers In Relation To Conservation Of Mass, Lyric Portwood
Investigating The Pedagogical Content Knowledge Of Georgia 6-12 Science Teachers In Relation To Conservation Of Mass, Lyric Portwood
Doctor of Education in Secondary and Middle Grades Education Dissertations
The Law of Conservation of Matter is a crosscutting concept in science that has implications for all disciplines of science. Conservation of Matter concepts are interwoven into all middle school and high school science courses both within the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE). For students to become scientifically literate, teachers of science must be able to articulate the content accurately to students and anticipate student difficulties and misconceptions in understanding the content. In order to ensure that students successfully learn said content, science teachers must possess both content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge. …

The Effects Of Prenatal Patient Education Regarding Epidural Anesthesia, Auburn Merritt
Symposium of Student Scholars
This project is important because there is a lack of education for prenatal women regarding epidural anesthesia which causes misunderstanding, confusion, a deficit of knowledge, and a lack of support. The purpose of this project is to analyze and suggest the importance of proper education regarding epidural anesthesia. Proper prenatal education causes resolution of misconceptions as well as causes patients to be more satisfied with their pain management during labor. Evidence that I found suggested that after proper education more pregnant women planned to receive epidural anesthesia (Cutajar, 2018). Women preferred detailed education to increase knowledge of the risks and …

Towards The Development And Assessment Of A Method For Educating Users Into Choosing Complex, Memorable Passphrases, Juan M. Madrid, Yair Levy, Laurie Dringus, Ling Wang
KSU Proceedings on Cybersecurity Education, Research and Practice
The currently most used method for authentication is the password because it is simple to implement, and computer users are very familiarized with it. However, passwords are vulnerable to attacks that can be mitigated by increasing the complexity of the chosen password, particularly in terms of length. One possible approach to accomplish this is through the usage of passphrases, which can be easier to remember than a standard password, thus reducing the loss of work time and productivity related to forgotten passwords. To achieve the required balance between complexity and memorability, the concept of passphrase categories can be used, i.e. …
