Utilization Of A Simulation Electronic Documentation Model For Healthcare Providers To Reduce Documentation Errors In A Hospital Setting, Icy Moton-Hale
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
Background: Electronic health records (EHRs) are commonly used within healthcare systems across the United States. Although EHRs were developed to provide safe delivery of care, poor documentation quality remains a problem. Poor HER documentation can negatively affect many patients’ health outcomes.
Purpose: The purpose of the DNP project was to determine the degree to which using a simulated electronic documentation model to train nurses in an acute care unit would decrease documentation errors and missed care and decrease missed opportunities for patient education in EHRs.
Methods: The theoretical framework was underpinned by the Donabedian model, positing that factors associated with …

Stacking The Deck In The Learner's Favor: Behavioral Skills Training Improves Safmeds Implementation, Lauren Olsen
Theses
“Say All Fast Minute Every Day Shuffled” (SAFMEDS) is a structured, evidence-based protocol for using flashcards. The protocol is a sequence of steps that are designed to promote accurate and quick responding to learn the information presented on flashcards. Although the benefits of using SAFMEDS have been well-documented, much of the literature fails to adequately describe the methods used to train participants on how to use the protocol. In addition, few studies measure participant procedural integrity (i.e., the extent to which the protocol is implemented as planned). To date, no study has systematically examined the effects of different training methods …

Game-Based Learning: Building Competence In Visual Literacy Through Simulation, Carol Record
Theses
Game-based learning is an ideal experiential learning framework for introducing the critique process to reduce student anxiety and create competence in visual literacy and self-assessment. Critique, the assessment, and analysis of one’s work is an essential step in any creative process. It is an integral part of art school. However, it can also be a source of high anxiety for new students. This paper discusses the importance of critique, the challenges associated with teaching critique, and the benefits of utilizing game-based learning. Examples of game-based learning solutions are explored, including the development of, and response to, Lumen, a card game …

Classroom Discipline, Lorene H. Armstrong
Theses
Constructive classroom discipline is an important part of the educative process. It provides children with the opportunity to experience the satisfaction of fitting into a social group in an atmosphere which is conducive to learning and which promotes healthy emotional control. Academic learning and disciplined behavior are inseparable. If the latter breaks down, the former is impaired. Good teaching is made possible only by good discipline. This paper will explore, by means of the research, what is considered good discipline in the classroom.
