Rural healthcare has often lagged when compared to those in suburban areas and inner cities. Rural healthcare has often been less effective, lower in quality, and not as accessible. Access to healthcare has been a key factor in life quality and quantity for all. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, qualitative and quantitative data was collected and analyzed which included the community health needs assessment (CHNA) data from the rural county (RC) and a double-blind survey distributed to organizational members by the partnering organization, the rural hospital (RH). Adequate healthcare is essential to the lives of all Americans; however, disparities exist in the quality of care and services available to marginalized groups in this country. For many years, there have been conversations and research conducted around the health and quality of healthcare provided to Black Americans; more specifically, the quality of care Black women receive. At the forefront of healthcare factors impacting Black women are breast cancer, maternal mortality, and the implicit bias of healthcare providers. The purpose of the project was to expand the digital marketing efforts and volunteer reporting and training processes of a thriving nonprofit healthcare organization. In 2015, the organization had an aging Web presence, disparate marketing systems, and inconvenient volunteer reporting and training processes. The project consisted of four central goals: improve website content management and update processes, improve website usability and digital marketing efforts, improve volunteer documentation and reporting processes, and improve volunteer training processes through accessible education resources.
