Ongoing or continuous professional development is essential for teachers to develop and maintain the knowledge base required to produce more powerful learning outcomes among their students. Research has shown that professional development is more effective and meaningful to teachers when it is content focused, involves active learning and collective participation, and when it is sustained in duration, instead of being top-down, episodic, or delivered as ‘one-shot’ training workshops.

The purpose of the study was to find out how well prepared science teachers are for the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) at the Secondary Education Level (SEL) in Rachuonyo South Sub-County. The study also looked at science teachers' training, Pedagogical Content Knowledge, technological skills, and attitudes toward CBC implementation. A descriptive survey design was used in the study, with a target population of 344 people, including 43 secondary school deputy head teachers, 43 science department heads, and 258 science teachers from all 43 secondary schools in the study area. This qualitative study using case study design sought to explore the effectiveness of Teachers’ Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in enhancing learners’ achievement in primary schools of Abim district in Uganda.

There are numerous CPDs in Abim district whose expected outcome is improved learners’ achievement but there is little evidence to authenticate that.

A total sample of thirteen (13) respondents participated. The study used interviews and Focussed Group Discussion as methods of collecting data from sampled participants. Data collected, consisted of information about respondents’ understanding of CPD, organisation, implementation, and evaluation.

Literature has demonstrated the significance of resources in English classrooms, particularly for English language learners whose first language is not English. This paper explains the study of conducting a survey to assess the professional development needs of the teachers in schools affiliated with Aga Khan University – Examination Board (AKU-EB) with the aim of strategizing and designing teacher development programmes. An online survey was carried out with questions regarding the demographic information, teachers’ current practices and their professional training needs. There were 306 teachers who participated in this survey from affiliated schools from the provinces of Sindh, Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
