The COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected many sectors, including the tourism sector. In this process, many tourism sector employees lost their jobs. Employees who lost their jobs did not return by turning to different sectors. This situation has revealed the lack of qualified personnel in the tourism sector. This study focuses on universities that provide qualified personnel to the tourism sector. The aim is to explore how the career plans of students who receive tourism education are affected after the COVID-19 outbreak. The research was carried out through an online survey in December 2021. As California State University, Fresno (Fresno State) continues to develop institutional capacity to improve sustainability within the contexts of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), the university mission, and strategic objectives identified by the California State University (CSU), student activism has played a critical role in establishing the groundwork for current efforts. This article is about an assignment I do in one of my Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies social movement classes. I revised the assignment the first time teaching the class after Trump lost the 2020 election. For the assignment, students work in groups to research local feminist and gender justice organizations and deposit all of their original materials – recordings, photos, flyers, etc. – into a digital, open access archive I co-created several years ago with librarians and staff on my campus.
