A Causal-Comparative Study Of The Difference In Student Academic Outcomes Among Elementary And Secondary Online Students Based On Parental Perceptions Of Virtual Learning, Elizabeth Gordon Mondoux

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

The purpose of this quantitative, nonexperimental causal-comparative study was to determine if there is a difference in student academic outcomes among elementary and secondary students who participate in online learning whose parents have favorable perception ratings of virtual learning and those whose parents do not. Understanding the influence of environmental factors on a student’s academic achievement, including persons close to the student, provides a conceptual framework for the direct impact of parental satisfaction with educational experiences on student performance in the online learning environment. The Panorama Family-School Relationships Survey was used to measure overall parental perceptions of the online learning …

Remote Learning In Collegiate Instrumental Courses: The Impact Of Remote Learning During The Covid-19 Pandemic And The Future Of Remote Learning, Beverly R. Gard Aug 2023

Remote Learning In Collegiate Instrumental Courses: The Impact Of Remote Learning During The Covid-19 Pandemic And The Future Of Remote Learning, Beverly R. Gard

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

During the 2020-2022 COVID-19 pandemic, many colleges were required to transition to a remote learning platform. This was a new concept to many professors and proved to impact college courses, including courses that relied on in-person learning and interactions, such as instrumental music courses. Courses were affected because teaching and learning methods that applied to in-person learning were not entirely possible with remote learning due to the mandates of social distancing and the lack of face-to-face instruction. Many music professors were required to make necessary changes to the curriculum, teaching styles, and educational technologies. Courses required new and innovative ways …

Educators’ Perspectives Of Student Outcomes, Rikki Jean Cook Dec 2022

Educators’ Perspectives Of Student Outcomes, Rikki Jean Cook

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

Individual experiences inform psychological adjustment, academic achievement, and trait-specific behaviors during adolescence. The formation of their identity is further dependent upon social and emotional interactions such as those experienced in the social learning environment. During the COVID-19 pandemic, mandated social distancing resulted in the closure of public schools state-wide, forcing students and educators to utilize online educational environments with no preparatory or transitionary periods to allow for adequate adjustment. It is necessary to assess and work toward an understanding of the consequences of this environmental shift, and of the adolescents’ modified social interactions. This descriptive qualitative phenomenological study explores the …
