Football is one of the most popular sports in the United States, despite a high risk of injury associated with the game. The issue of sports-related concussion (SRC) in football has garnered widespread attention in both the media and in scholarly literature as a result of documentaries, movies, and popular journal articles highlighting the connection between former professional football players and the neurodegenerative disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE (McKee et al., 2013; Mez, Daneshvar, Kiernan, et al., 2017). Objective: To collect and analyze injury data from two leagues in the Midlands area of South Carolina. One of the leagues is an age-weight league, meaning athletes have to be within a certain age range and weight range to play on a specific team. The other league was an age-only league, meaning athletes have to be within a certain range to play on a specific team. Results: For the two seasons that injury data was collected, the age-weight league had 208 injuries and the age-only league had 109. The purpose of this research was to investigate the demand for structured
RollerSoccer Youth Programs and to examine the perceptions about this type of
Program. The market for RollerSoccer is untapped and unrepresented in the
world of sports. To date, there are no articles about the development of
RollerSoccer Youth Programs or scholarly work on marketing the emerging sport
of RollerSoccer. The RollerSoccer International Federation (RSIF), the governing
body for this fast‐paced, high scoring hybrid sport aims to expand its reach to
youth in diverse communities by developing this sports initiative.
