An Examination Of Georgia Young Farmer Program Participants’ Learning Style Preferences, Barry S. Bailey, James R. Lindner, Brian Parr
An Examination Of Georgia Young Farmer Program Participants’ Learning Style Preferences, Barry S. Bailey, James R. Lindner, Brian Parr
Journal of Human Sciences and Extension
This study was designed to describe Georgia Young Farmer Program participants’ learning style preferences. Using survey research methods, a questionnaire was designed to collect data related to the purpose of the study. The population for this study included active members in the program. Study findings showed that participants had a preference for kinesthetic learning over visual and auditory learning. While participants indicated a preference for kinesthetic learning, all three learning styles were deemed effective. Preferences for learning styles and perception of effectiveness did not differ by personal characteristics. Recommendations include taking learning style preferences into account when designing and delivering …
Learning Style And Perception On Hybrid Learning, Ariel Ora, Roland Sahatcija, Anxhela Ferhataj
Learning Style And Perception On Hybrid Learning, Ariel Ora, Roland Sahatcija, Anxhela Ferhataj
UBT International Conference
Learning style is unique. Knowing learning styles helps students and universities to be more effective and efficient. It plays an essential role in selecting the right teaching methodology. The aim of this research is to study the students’ perceptions on hybrid learning and learning style. Another objective is analysing the perception on hybrid learning according to their learning. The study sample consists of 89 students of universities in Albania. SPSS 20 and JASP-0.8.1.2 have been used to analyse the data. The statistical analyses used in this research are: the distribution table, contingency tables, Student's T-Test, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, Bayesian Independent …

Greater Faculties: A Review of Teaching and Learning
Dr. Deb Castiglione is the Universal Design and Instructional Technology Specialist at CELT. She has worked to get a campus-wide license at the University of Kentucky for the software Read&Write Gold, which follows principles of universal design for learning. We asked Dr. Castiglione about what the software can do for learners, and why we should think more about inclusive practices such as universal design in our teaching.
Learning Connections Inventory: Making Major Decisions Among Undeclared Students, Raven Alexis Holloway
Learning Connections Inventory: Making Major Decisions Among Undeclared Students, Raven Alexis Holloway
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential relationship between the Learning Connections Inventory (LCI) and the career and academic exploration process of undeclared students at Rowan University, Glassboro, New Jersey. I examined if the LCI has predictive value in assisting undeclared students in the career exploration process as well as the attitudes of selected Rowan University professors and administrators towards the use of the LCI in the career and academic exploration process. The study investigated the statistical relationship of learning styles, as defined by the LCI, had on academic major selection. Data on the LCI scores and …
Visual Formative Assessment And Learning Styles, Julie Pickard
Visual Formative Assessment And Learning Styles, Julie Pickard
Master of Education Program Theses
This action research study investigated the impact of visual formative assessments on the achievement levels of students with visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles. The study was conducted in four classes of freshmen at Southwest Christian High School in Chaska, MN, with a total of eighty-four participants. Two pairs were created for the study with control and treatment groups in each pair. Students were classified according to learning style, and a unit pre-test was administered to identify growth. Treatment groups were instructed using daily visual formative assessments for the duration of the unit. Students were assessed again at the end …
Exploring How Individual Traits Influence Enjoyment In A Mobile Learning Game, Youngkyun Baek, Achraf Touati
Exploring How Individual Traits Influence Enjoyment In A Mobile Learning Game, Youngkyun Baek, Achraf Touati
Educational Technology Faculty Publications and Presentations
This study investigated individual traits as predictors of game enjoyment by including learning style, intrinsic motivation, collaboration skills, and computer game attitude as key parts of a model that also included achievement. Results of correlation and regression analyses revealed that intrinsic motivation was the only variable to predict game enjoyment. This supports the conceptualization of enjoyment as need satisfaction of intrinsic needs. Enjoyment was also found to be positively correlated with achievement. Other significant relations emerged, particularly how a player’s attitude toward games predicted intrinsic motivation. The present study examined children’s enjoyment experiences in the mobile version of the Minecraft …
A Close Look At Learning Styles, Joanna Haswell
A Close Look At Learning Styles, Joanna Haswell
Honors Senior Capstone Projects
The term “learning style” refers to the idea that each student learns in his or her own way. More specifically, a learning style is the preferential way that a student is able to learn, retain, and apply the information that they are learning. In order to bring about success in anything that one does, it is important to understand learning styles, the history of them, their evolution, and how research on them can help one better understand how he or she learns.
The Perceptual Learning Style Preferences Of Hispanic Students In Higher Education, Catherine Johnston Lui
The Perceptual Learning Style Preferences Of Hispanic Students In Higher Education, Catherine Johnston Lui
Theses and Dissertations
This paper addresses the question of whether higher education Hispanic students of different nationalities have different perceptual learning style preferences. Independent samples t-tests findings suggest the country of origin of a Hispanic student's parents has a statistically significant relationship (n=165, p<0.0073) with student's learning style preferences. ANOVA results also identified a statistically significant relationship between SES and group learning style (p<0.004,) and between visual learning style and two factors: age (p<0.011) and family education (p<0.033).
Developing The Ultimate Course Search Tool: A Pilot Study, Edina Renfro-Michel, Sailume Walo-Roberts
Developing The Ultimate Course Search Tool: A Pilot Study, Edina Renfro-Michel, Sailume Walo-Roberts
The Emerging Learning Design Journal
Security IT professionals are in high demand, yet university computer science programs have low retention rates. In an effort to increase retention of these millennial students, universities should provide interactive, individualized, student controlled learning. Ultimate Course Search (UCS) was developed to provide an interactive content search learning tool for students. A pilot study was conducted to determine attrition rates, how students use UCS and integrate learning preferences into studying, and the learning outcomes. The retention rates of the experimental class were much higher than that of the control class. Student comments of UCS are discussed.
University Educators' Instructional Choices And Their Learning Styles Within A Lesson Framework, Lucille Mazo
University Educators' Instructional Choices And Their Learning Styles Within A Lesson Framework, Lucille Mazo
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Research on learning styles often focuses on the learning style of the student; however, the learning style of the educator may affect instructional choices and student learning. Few studies have addressed the lack of knowledge that exists in universities with respect to educators' learning styles and a lesson framework (development, delivery, and debriefing). This sequential mixed methods study explored university educators' conscious, reflective instructional choices as they related to learning styles application within a lesson. Two theoretical frameworks and one conceptual framework drew on Kolb's experiential learning theory; Bloom's, Reigeluth's, and Gagné's instructional design theories and models; and Fiddler and …
