This study seeks to examine and document the language use of both teachers and students in English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) classrooms in an Indonesian bilingual elementary school. Qualitative date were collected from sixteen classrooms in the form of an observation tool, video recording, and informal interviews. Research focused on the quantity and nature of each of the two languages used, including why and when codeswitching occurred. Data were analyzed and charted, providing a picture of the realities of EMI instruction in Indonesia, and the challenges faced.
