This study was concerned with the challenges beginning teachers face when they enter the field of education. Through the use of reflective practice, beginning teacher personal reflections of experience were recorded and analyzed to discern particular experiences that present as the most challenging to these novice educators.
Reflective practice and experiential learning theories are used in this qualitative phenomenological study. This study includes reflective practice as first introduced by master theorist John Dewey, considered by many to be the father of reflection in education, and theorist Donald Schon. Group Contingency Interventions For Classroom Behavior Management: A Systematic Review Of The Literature 2011-2016, Danielle M. Crawford Duff

The purpose of this review was to evaluate the current literature base on the use of group contingency interventions to determine whether there is sufficient empirical evidence to recommend the practice for behavior management in K-12 classrooms. Studies were evaluated based on standards proposed by the What Works Clearinghouse. The results of the review indicate support for group contingencies as an evidence-based practice and highlight a need for increased experimental rigor and more detailed reporting to determine whether the interventions are effective and for which populations or settings they are most appropriate.

This project focused its research on how various teachers implement classroom management into their classrooms. The definition of classroom management used for this project is from The Glossary of Education Reform, which says classroom management refers to the “wide variety of skills and techniques that teachers and schools use to keep students organized, orderly, focused, attentive, on task, and academically productive during a class” (Great Schools Partnership, 2014, p. 1).
